The objective of this position is promoting health and safety while establishing a preventative approach to reduce the impact of employee incidents as measured by the number of lost time injuries, medical aids, and recordable incidents and all their associated costs within Engineering & Public Works and Facilities.
Reporting directly to and working closely with the OHS Manager, the OHS Coordinator is the contact for the Engineering and Public Works managers and supervisors including Facilities as well as the Joint Occupational Health & Safety Committee. The OHS Coordinator works closely with these groups in risk management, regulatory compliance, OHS program implementation, hazard assessments, compliance monitoring, inspections and auditing. This position requires the Coordinator to advise, assist, and support management and supervisors will all aspects of occupational health and safety.

Under the general supervision of theInspector-in-Charge of Central Division of the Cape Breton Regional Police Service, or designate, is responsible for the security, supervision, and control of prisoners in the Lock-up facility.
Responsibilities also include ensuring that proper cleanliness and physical security standards are being maintained. He/she must be able to work with policy and procedures, standing orders, and interim directives as issued occasionally by the Cape Breton Regional Police Service.

Under the supervision of an on-duty Communications Supervisor, the Communications Operator will receive emergency and non-emergency calls, including enhanced 911 system calls, and calls for assistance for Police, Fire and Medical at the emergency centre and gather the essential information from the caller to determine whether or not emergency response services are needed. The Communications Operator will also maintain status checks of all active calls for services with all emergency response personnel.
