The Corporate Structure for the Cape Breton Regional Municipality (CBRM) is outlined in the chart below.

The CBRM utilizes a Council/Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) style of government. The administration is broken into a number of municipal departments, each responsible for the delivery of specialized services coordinated through the office of the CAO who ultimately reports to the full Council.

The CBRM is a major employer in the region with over 750 employees including police officers, fire personnel, administrative, clerical, building inspection and planning staff, as well as approximately 350 employees in the Public Works Department.
