Notice is hereby given in accordance with the Property Auctions Policy (property not sold at tax sale), Section 143(4) of the Municipal Government Act 1999, properties situated in the Cape Breton Regional Municipality will be sold at Public Auction at the time and place noted above.

  1. The reserve bid for each property is $475. Bidding will start at $475.
  2. HST - All bids are subject to 13% HST
  3. All properties are subject to immediate title upon full payment settlement. CBRM will provide a tax deed within 60 business days of the auction.
  4. Terms of payment: Payment in full at the sale by: CASH, BUSINESS or PERSONALIZED CHEQUE, DEBIT, VISA, MASTERCARD, PLUS $270.00 DEED REGISTRATION TO BE PAID AT THE TIME OF SALE.
  5. Property taxes: The purchaser will be responsible for all property taxes beginning the day of the sale.

Take notice that this sale by auction may not clear up defects in title. A tax deed conveys only the interest of the assessed owner, whatever that interest may be. If you have questions or concerns regarding potential title defects, you are advised to obtain a legal opinion before purchasing any property at this sale.

The Cape Breton Regional Municipality makes no representations or warranties to any purchaser regarding the fitness, geophysical or environmental suitability of the land(s) offered for sale for any particular use and are being sold on an "as is" basis only.

Section 144(2) of the Nova Scotia Municipal Government Act-Purchase of Tax Sale Properties by Municipal Employees or their spouses is not permitted.
