Cape Breton artist Patsy MacKinnon’s exhibit Character Reference,  Main Gallery, Cape Breton Centre for Craft and Design, Charlotte Street, Sydney.  Features 25 watercolour paintings that explore the people and landscape of Cape Breton Island. The exhibit also consists of MacKinnon’s preliminary sketches, studies and colour notes that paint the story of the art making process.

Louisbourg: Past, Present, Future, McConnell Library, Sydney.  Historian and novelist A.J.B. (John) Johnston will be returning to Cape Breton to celebrate Louisbourg 300 with the release of his new book Louisbourg: Past, Present, Future.  In lively, illustrated talk, John will offer an overview that he calls "a Top 10 History of Louisbourg".  Visit the McConnell Library to register, or call 562-3161.  Library Programs are FREE!

Living With Cancer Support Group, Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 128 (Pier), Victoria Road, Sydney.  A support group for those who have had a diagnosis of cancer, for their family, caregivers.   Potluck Lunch at 12:30 p.m.   Meeting to follow.

 Flea Market, Out Lady of Fatima Church Hall, Sydney River.  Admission $1;  age 12 and younger free.  Fundraiser for Cape Breastoners Dragon Boat Team.

Cruisin’ in the Classics, Joan Harriss Cruise Pavilion, 60 Esplanade, Sydney.   Take a rare ride in a vintage car around downtown Sydney for only $10 to support Bereaved Families of Cape Breton. We’ll be rockin’ to the oldies and dancing up a storm while you are chauffeured in vintage cars from the Cape Breton Antique and Custom Car Club. Enjoy some lemonade and a BBQ. All proceeds will support Bereaved Families of CB. Rain date: Sunday, June 23, 2013 at the same time.
