Free Film Night, McConnell Library, Sydney.  Held in conjunction with the "Destination Jungle" Summer Reading Program. Film will be the Science North production of "Jane Goodall's Wild Chimpanzees".  Originally shown in IMAX theatres, the film takes you on an extraordinary trip deep into the Gombe rainforest, and across forty years of Dr Goodall's research to experience the world of the chimpanzee as never seen before.  Dr Goodall, the world's most famous field researcher, best known for her groundbreaking observations of chimps making and using tools, has revolutionized our understanding of both chimp and human behaviour, and continues to be an active proponent of conserving rainforests and wild primate habitat around the world (eg. the "Root and Shoots" program in schools).  No registration is necessary.  Everyone is welcome to attend.

Under the Arch, Plein Air Event, Louisbourg.  A two day open air painting event which gives artists the unique chance to paint the Fortress of Louisbourg, town of Louisbourg, and nearby coastline.  Visitors to the Louisbourg area will have a chance to walk among and meet the artists as they paint en Plein Air (open air). The artists' one of a kind paintings will be hung for display and sale in silent auction style at the Fortress Louisbourg Visitor Centre. Official opening of Phase III of the Wentworh Park Restoration, Wentworth Park, Sydney.  Entertainment by the Lucy Wintermans School of Dance, Rob Barrie, and Carleton Stone Drives the Big Wheel.  Since early spring 2010, children young and old have been enjoying the playground equipment made possible by the programming made possible by various levels of government whose representatives will be on hand to share in this special day.  Everyone is invited to attend the celebration, hear local talent and enjoy a piece of cake.

Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation CIBC Run for the Cure, Sydney Armories, Victoria Park, Sydney.  This is Canada's largest single day, volunteer-led fundraising event dedicated to raising funds for breast cancer research, and education and awareness programs.  Each year, thousands of Canadians of all ages and from all walks of life unite to participate in the Run.
