Subdivision BylawOn September 27th, 2011 Council of the Cape Breton Regional Municipality adopted an amended version of the Regional Municipality’s Subdivision Bylaw. These amendments do not change the content of the Bylaw. The general provisions are not changed, nor are the engineering specifications. The purpose of the amended version was to revise the style in which it is presented in hopes of making it an easier read. With this amended version it is the intention to make it easier for the reader to find a particular provision, to follow the chronological processing order of the various stages of approval (i.e. preliminary, tentative, and final), to follow the process of a repeal of a plan of subdivision, and to understand the infrastructure (e.g. streets, water and sewer main) construction/installation specifications. This amended version of the Bylaw adopted by CBRM Council was approved by the Province and is now in effect as of December 10th, 2011. A copy of this new version is the one available here.
