Online survey for feedback about proposed North End Sydney amendment

January 4, 2021

SYDNEY, NS - Cape Breton Regional Municipality has received a proposal to convert the Sacred Heart Church, located at 217 George Street, into a business hall to host a variety of events.

While a business hall is a permitted use, the proposed development is unable to meet the minimum parking requirements to obtain a building and development permit.

CBRM Council has been asked to consider an amendment to municipal policy which would remove the minimum parking requirements for the proposed development.

The CBRM is seeking input from the North End Sydney community on parking in the North End and in relation to the proposed development to assist in making a decision on the matter.

Individuals can provide feedback by taking a short online survey. The survey is available until end of day on January 17, 2020.  The link: https://kwiksurveys.com/s/northendsydney
