Holiday Collection Notices

 

Curbside Collection Notice: Christmas Day, Thursday, December 25, 2025

There is NO Curbside Collection on Christmas Day, Thursday, December 25.  All Garbage, Blue Bags and Green Carts normally scheduled to be collected on Thursday, December 25 will be collected on Saturday, December 27, 2025.

 

Curbside Collection Notice:  Boxing Day, Friday, December 26, 2025

There is NO Curbside Collection on Boxing Day, Friday, December 26.

• EXTRA garbage bags and green cart material will be collected on your area’s next regularly scheduled collection day. 
• Blue bags will be collected on your area’s next regularly scheduled blue bag collection week.

 

Curbside Collection Notice: New Year's Day, January 1, 2026

There is NO Curbside Collection on New Year’s Day, Thursday, January 1.

• EXTRA garbage bags and green cart material will be collected on your area’s next regularly scheduled collection day. 
• Blue bags will be collected on your area’s next regularly scheduled blue bag collection week.

 

 

Curbside Collection Updates

 

Curbside Collection Notice: Saturday Collection Schedule CHANGES to Mondays

Attention to all residents who live in areas that have curbside collection on Saturdays: Your curbside collection day is changing from Saturdays to Mondays for Garbage, Blue Bags and Green Cart.

• The last scheduled Saturday collection day was Saturday, October 11, 2025.
• The NEW Monday Collection Schedule starts Monday, October 20, 2025.

PLEASE NOTE:

Areas scheduled to have blue bag collection on Saturday, October 18 will have blue bag collection on Monday, October 27.

Areas that received blue bag collection on Saturday October 11 will place their blue bags out for collection on Monday, October 20.

 

CBRM's Blue Bag Program Expands To Include More Materials

Circular Materials—the producer-led, not-for-profit organization operating in Nova Scotia—launched Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) for paper and packaging on December 1 across the province.  Residents can now place more materials than ever in their Containers and Paper Products blue bags.

Check out the list below to see some of the new items now accepted for recycling in your blue bags!

 

Disposal of Hazardous Waste

 

Batteries, chemicals, and other hazardous waste must not be placed in the garbage, green cart or blue bags. These items are hazardous and pose a serious risk during collection, processing, or storage of waste materials at our facilities.

 

Examples of hazardous materials that must not be placed in the garbage, green cart or blue bags:

 

• Batteries (including lithium-ion, alkaline, and button cell)
• Flammable liquids (like gasoline or solvents)
• Paint and paint thinners
• Cleaning products and pesticides
• Mercury-containing items (such as thermometers or light bulbs)

Please make sure your green cart is secure when placed curbside.
